Dear Class of 2028 and Parents,
In less than six months, you will officially become part of the NCHS family. As you continue through the second half of eighth grade, you’ve begun thinking about and planning for your freshman year, and we are committed to making your transition to high school easy.
During our orientation evening, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the variety of programs at New Canaan High School. We have scheduled four 20-minute sessions so you have the opportunity to learn about our different instructional disciplines and the particular academic subjects within that program, as well as the content, expectations, and commitments involved with each of the freshman year options.

We hope that these sessions enable you to learn more about a discipline you are most interested in or get excited about an elective area that’s new to you. It’s important that you make your freshman year course selections from an informed perspective, with an awareness of who you are as a learner at this point in your academic development.
NCHS School Counselors will be available in the lobby and cafeteria to answer questions about schedules, graduation requirements, and planning a balanced program of study that is appropriately demanding and maintains the ability for students to discover new interests and activities. Remember, all of us are here to answer any question and offer any assistance you may need.
