Congressman Himes

Techrise Challenge - US Congressman, Jim Himes, will be visiting Saxe Middle School on Monday afternoon to meet with the Grade 7 Techrise Challenge Winners.  In addition to meeting with the students, he will also have the opportunity to tour our STEM spaces and learn more about our program. The students will share with Representative Himes the original design for their experiment titled “The Effect of High Altitude on Color Perception” which will collect visual data on various colors using a high-definition camera at sea level and on a high-altitude balloon journey. Since winning the competition in January, the team has had several meetings with engineers from the Future Engineers and NASA teams where they have been offered access to technical support and assistance during the building process. Currently, the Saxe team is in the process of building the final payload and preparing to test the computer/microcontroller of their experiment on the digital simulator provided by the Future Engineer team.  Innovation in action!
