Decemeber 2025 - The New Canaan High School Debate Team delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Connecticut Debate Association tournament hosted by the King School in Stamford. Fourteen NCHS students took part in the event, joining 176 competitors from fifteen schools across the region.
NCHS debaters excelled in both the Varsity and Novice divisions. In Varsity, the team of Alma Hsu and Sophia La Magna secured the top spot, while Ayush Dave and Emma Hassan earned a strong fourth-place finish. In the Novice division, Vivaan Powari and Max Leffers captured first place, helping NCHS achieve a rare and impressive sweep of the tournament.
The team’s performance reflects their dedication, preparation, and ability to think critically under pressure. Congratulations to all our debaters on representing New Canaan with skill and confidence.
