New Canaan, CT – New Canaan High School students made a powerful showing at the 2025 Access Awareness Awards, earning multiple top honors in video production, including the prestigious John M. Repicky Award for best overall high school project.

Olivia Marotta received the John M. Repicky Award for her animated film “Tether,” which also earned First Place in the High School – Animation/Stop Motion category. The Repicky Award, which includes a $1,000 grant to support the school’s video production program, is presented annually to the most outstanding high school entry across all categories. Olivia’s project was created under the guidance of instructor Jennifer Sinski.

In total, New Canaan High School earned recognition in seven separate categories, including:

  • Third Place – High School Experimental
    “Anxiety” by Claire Parelli | Instructor: Jennifer Sinski

  • Third Place – High School General Interest Story
    “NCHS Courant” by Tahlia Scherer | Instructor: Roman Cebulski

The Access Awareness Awards (AAA) are sponsored by the Area 9 Cable Council (A9CC) and Altice of CT, and recognize outstanding student video productions aired on Educational Access Channel 78. The annual competition encourages creativity, storytelling, and technical skills in video production across Fairfield County.
