School Day SAT Testing on March 19th

Update: Please click here to view tomorrow's schedule:

school day SAT class schedule for march 19th

The eleventh grade Connecticut State-mandated assessment in the areas of language arts (reading and writing) and mathematics is the School Day SAT. The assessments are designed to measure current levels of student performance in relation to state standards and college and career readiness.

By virtue of our educational program, which incorporates state standards and high expectations, our students are well prepared for this assessment.

The information gained from the SAT is part of each child’s academic record and is one of the ways in which students can meet NCHS graduation requirements in reading and math. Data analysis of student performance also provides teachers and administrators with information about academic program strengths and areas for growth. The College Board will be delivering these assessments online through its Bluebook platform which students downloaded and used to take the PSAT in October. Students may use their personal devices (other than Chromebooks) to take the assessment, but school-devices will be provided to those who need one. We will be working with students to ensure their devices are ready for testing in early March.

NCHS will test all 11th graders the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 2024, with makeup dates the week of March 25, 2024  for those who miss testing due to illness. Students in eleventh grade are already registered for this administration of the SAT; students and families do not need to register or take any other action to schedule this assessment.  This is a mandated assessment for all juniors even if they have already taken the SAT on their own.

Students who do not want their results reported beyond the State may cancel their scores following the assessment so that the score will only be reportable for the State’s purposes but will not become part of that student’s College Board record.

We encourage you to help your child view the upcoming testing as an opportunity to demonstrate what they know and are able to do. Ensuring your child is well-rested and has a healthy breakfast are examples of how you can be supportive. Additional resources for families regarding the Connecticut School Day SAT may be found in English or Spanish.

Only eleventh grade students need to report to school for testing by 8:00 AM on March 19th. An abbreviated school day for all students including grades nine, ten and twelve will begin at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be available to all students. Grade 12 will participate in training activities for internship/senior projects in the morning. A schedule for the day will be sent as we get into March.
