Melinda Meyer Named NCPS District Director of Innovation and Technology

NEW CANAAN, CT (October 2025) – New Canaan Public Schools is pleased to announce Melinda Meyer as the district’s new Director of Innovation and Technology. She will begin her new position effective November 1, 2025.

“Melinda has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and excellence in our schools,” said Dr. Bryan Luizzi, Superintendent of Schools. “Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing our science programs and integrating innovative practices that prepare students for success in an ever-evolving world. We’re thrilled to see her step into this new role and continue her work expanding innovation and leading technology for our students.”

Ms. Meyer has been a dedicated member of the New Canaan Public Schools community for more than two decades. She began her career with the district in 2000 as an intern at Saxe Middle School, where she was hired the following year as a Science teacher. In 2006, she was named the district’s K-8 Science Coordinator, later becoming Co-Chair of New Canaan High School’s Science Department in 2018. In 2022, she was appointed as the district’s Director of Innovation, establishing the district’s Vision of Innovation, which serves as a unifying framework for design-thinking mindsets and K-12 instructional practice, revitalizing the middle school’s Design & Think Labs and establishing the district’s Innovation Steering Committee.

Moving into this new role, Ms. Meyer will oversee the district’s continued work around design and innovation, focusing on forward-thinking technology initiatives, instructional programs, and the integration of emerging platforms, such as the district’s ongoing work with artificial intelligence (A.I.) and New Canaan High School’s new immersive learning theater, The Dome.

Ms. Meyer has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from Southampton College of Long Island University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University.
