(March 23, 2024) NEW CANAAN — Before raining cats and dogs this weekend, it was raining golf balls over Waveny Park as residents gathered for the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation’s annual Color Drop fundraiser Friday afternoon.
A HeliNY helicopter dropped 2,000 colored golf balls over the park and onto a target, each numbered with those landing closest to the target winning a prize. Golf balls were sold for $100 each, and all of the proceeds were donated to the NCHSSF for need-based scholarships given to New Canaan High School graduates.
This year’s grand prize was a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado valued at $41,000. Other prizes this year included a $2,000 gift card to Walter Stewart’s Market, fine art, a pet portrait and more.
