East Halloween Parade
Friday, October 29, 2021, 10:15AM
We are excited to be able to hold a Halloween parade this year at East as we mark this fall season. The parade will be held on Friday, October 29th, at 10:15AM.
Students should arrive at school on-time (by 9:05AM) and bring with them a simple costume that they can easily put on by themselves in the classroom. Parents planning to come to watch the parade will be asked to stand in areas designated for each grade-level; please do not arrive prior to 10:00 AM. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms to continue on with their day and classroom-based activities.
All adults (including parents watching the parade) and students will need to wear masks during the event.
In the event of rain or other inclement weather that prevents an outdoor parade, the parade will be held indoors and will be a student-only parade. We hope to share a Zoom link with families to allow them to livestream the parade.
Here are some helpful hints for the parade:
Children should bring their costumes in a bag with all pieces (and the bag) clearly labeled with their first and last name.
Full-face masks that obstruct vision and any weapons / sharp, long or pointy props must remain at home even if it is a part of a costume. We also ask for your assistance in refraining from costumes that emphasize violence, blood, or gore. These can be frightening for some children.
No make-up / face paint for students at this event.
We ask that parents NOT wear Halloween masks or face paint to the parade; adults dressed in costume can be frightening to some of our younger students and it presents a security issue as well.
No dogs or pets at the parade - thank you!
Please do not send food or prizes for the class. Classroom teachers will work with room parents to coordinate the day. The costumes themselves are quite a celebration!
Carpool! Carpool! Carpool! The parking will be frightful! We expect a crowd and our parking is limited. We ask for your patience and flexibility to ensure that we all can remain safe and have an enjoyable time.
