It’s hard to believe that today we turn the calendar to October! Happy Fall! Here are some highlights of “what’s happening” in these weeks ahead at East.
Dates to Remember
October 4th-8th, Scholastic Book Fair
October 5th, NCPS Virtual Elementary Health Parent Presentation, 9:30AM / 6:30PM (Zoom link coming soon via email)
East School Outdoor Book Fair!
Next week will be the East Outdoor Book Fair! Each class has an assigned time to visit and shop at the book fair for 25 minutes. Please be in touch with your child’s classroom teacher if you are unclear on the day and time of the class’ visit to the Book Fair. Parents who wish to join their child at the book fair during the class visit time may park in the parking lot and walk to the Book Fair on the playground to attend at their child’s class visit time. Masks are to be worn by all adults and students attending the book fair. Our students are growing their reading stamina in the classroom this fall and we are excited to offer this opportunity for families to gather new books to read at home thanks to the East PTC!
***Please note that if there is rainy weather, the Book Fair will be held indoors for classes on that day. Unfortunately, we are not able to have parents join classes indoors for shopping in that case. Information will be sent from the East PTC to update you on the indoor/outdoor status of the Book Fair as the week unfolds.
Elementary Health Presentation (Grades 1-5)
All families are invited to attend a virtual presentation on Tuesday, October 5th, to learn more about the NCPS Health and Wellness curriculum implemented in grades 1-5. The presentation will be held at 9:30AM and again at 6:30PM. Mr. Jonathan Adams, NCPS K-8 Health and Physical Education Coordinator, will lead the presentation; he will be joined by the elementary health teaching staff, including Mr. Mike Tiscia, East School health teacher. A Zoom link to the presentation will be sent to families in advance of the presentation.
A Message from NCPS Food Services
NCPS Food Services is working hard to offer the monthly menu items as scheduled. However, due to supply chain and food delivery challenges nationwide, there may be instances in which a menu item may need to be changed. In the event of a menu change, communication will be provided to families in advance if possible. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.
