Happy New Year! We appreciate the cooperation of all as we have navigated this week of remote learning. East teachers have done an amazing job preparing our students to be flexible learners and our East students have been so very impressive in their commitment to their learning in flexible environments. Our students have also demonstrated how comfortable they are with our technology platforms for learning. We are so very proud of our staff and students for all of this!
Kindergarten and Grade 1 Bin Returns - Please read!
We anticipate returning to full in-person learning at East School on Monday, January 11, 2021. Kindergarten and grade 1 students will need to return their blue bins that were used to organize learning materials this week at home. We will have staff available for bin returns at East at the following times:
Friday, January 8th 3:00-4:30 PM
Monday, January 11th 7:45AM-8:45 AM
Please note that students will need their bin materials for in-person learning on Monday morning at East. If these times are not possible for bin drop-off, students may carry their bins on the bus, but we recommend that all of the materials be packed in ziploc baggies and/or placed in their backpack or a tote bag for carrying purposes. Also, classroom teachers may direct students to keep some materials in their backpack rather than the bins for Monday, but the blue bins should still be returned to school. Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation in this!
Students in Grades 2-4 should plan to bring all materials back to school on Monday in their backpacks. As always, please be sure that devices are charged overnight at home.
Returning to East
Please note the protocols in the NCPS Charting Our Course guidelines for families that are returning from out-of-state travel. Students returning from travel must either quarantine for 10 days upon return or present a negative COVID PCR test result. (Students will be able to participate in remote learning during the period of quarantine or while awaiting COVID test results.)
We ask for your cooperation in following these protocols; this is a critical component of ensuring the health and safety of staff and students and minimizing the spread of illness. Please be in touch with our school nurse, Liz Buckner (email@example.com), if you have any questions regarding these protocols.
Kindergarten 2021 Transition Meeting
It’s hard to believe, but following the holidays, we turn the calendar to January 2021 and begin our registration and transition process for incoming Kindergarten students. We will host a virtual NCPS Kindergarten Transition Meeting on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Click this link to our Kindergarten Transition Meeting flyer for more details and links to begin the registration process if you have an incoming kindergartener for the 2021-22 school year.
