It may be a snow day, but we still have lots to share about the “happenings” at East! We hope you are all enjoying the day in a warm and cozy way.
*** Please send snow clothes and boots with students when we return to school on Friday. We want to continue to have recess times as long as surfaces are not icy but students may only play in the snow in our fields if they have snow clothes and boots. Thank you!
Spotlight on East School Singers!
For the past five years, East music teacher, Mr. Barry Zhou, has led our East School Singers in sharing the gift of music with the East School community. East School Singers is a group of fourth grade students who select to participate in this extra-curricular group offered at East. This year, the East School Singers have taken on a new look (given COVID restrictions on singing in school) and they've been hard at work on Zoom keeping their music alive. Our East School Singers wake up early each Wednesday morning to sign on to rehearsal with Mr. Zhou from 8:00-8:30am.
Check your email (and the East School website) on Wednesday, December 23rd, for a virtual holiday gift of music from the East School Singers that we will share out with all of our students and families! We hope you enjoy it!
Community Service Update!
Our boxes have been filling up each day with socks, toothbrushes, and toothpaste for the Pacific House in Stamford thanks to the care and generosity of our East School families. Thank you for supporting our students in understanding the needs of others and recognizing that they can make a difference in the world with empathy, compassion, and care towards others. There is still time on Friday to bring in any additional donations!
If your child will not be in school on Wednesday, December 23rd due to early holiday travel, please be sure to communicate that to your child’s teacher to ensure that they can plan for your child to bring home holiday projects, devices, materials, etc.
If you are planning to travel to a state noted on the Connecticut Travel Advisory list during the holidays, please communicate with East prior to vacation; a quarantine period of 14 days following travel or documentation of negative COVID testing results is required based on the most recent CDC guidelines. Classroom teachers can provide the remote learning link to students who need to quarantine due to travel or while they are awaiting testing results, but it is helpful for teachers to be aware of the need for remote learning prior to the break to ensure that students have their devices, core materials, and access to the link.

Click HERE for a link to our Kindergarten Transition Meeting flyer for more details and links to begin the registration process if you have an incoming kindergartener for the 2021-22 school year.
