What's Happening @ East? October 8, 2020

October 8, 2020

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian:

It is certainly feeling like fall outside! It has been another terrific week at East as we all have settled into learning routines. Read on for some exciting news coming to close the week!

East School Spirit Day

*** Tomorrow, Friday, October 9th, will be our first East School Spirit Day of the 2020-21 school year! Wear your East School colors (green and white) or your East Spiritwear! Show how much you love East School!

Our own East Eagle stopped by recently to check out the new shade, thanks to our PTC.  We are hopeful that East Eagle will make a special remote / virtual appearance during our Spirit Day tomorrow!

East Eagle and all of East School also want to share a special THANK YOU to the East community for all of your support of the Eagle’s Nest (click on the image below to see East Eagle’s excitement)! Donations to the Eagle’s Nest continue through tomorrow on the East PTC website

Health Update, Grades 1-4: All parents in grades 1-4 are asked to read the Health letter from Jonathan Adams, NCPS K-8 Health and Physical Education Coordinator. The letter was linked in a separate email sent today. Thank you!

Important Reminders

  • To address questions regarding the criteria for students to return to school following illness, please refer to Addendum 5 provided on the NCPS Charting Our Course website (page 2 of the Addendum presents a chart for reference).

  • When reporting your child absent on the attendance line, please indicate the symptoms your child is exhibiting; this information is kept confidential but is helpful to our nurse, Liz Buckner, as she monitors illness patterns in the school.

  • If your child is sick, has rested for 24 hours, and is moving to temporary remote learning while symptoms are monitored or resolving, the main office must be notified by 8AM of the temporary remote learning request.

  • At arrival, please have your child’s mask on prior to pulling up to the entrance platform where cars unload and please ensure that your child is ready to exit the car promptly (backpack close by, etc.). This will allow us to continue the flow of traffic in the morning.

  • If a technology issue arises for your child, please send an email to the district technology support staff using the email address: studenthelpdesk@ncps-k12.org . Classroom teachers are teaching throughout the day and are not able to respond to emails in the moment to troubleshoot technology issues
