As Dr. Luizzi communicated in his district email, we are excited to welcome all of our students to full in-person learning over the course of next week. Please read on for more details regarding the schedule for the week ahead; this schedule will allow us to ensure that we are able to monitor our systems and procedures for a smooth transition to fully in-person learning.
All K-2 students will return for in-person learning beginning on Monday, September 21st. All kindergarten students will attend for full-days of kindergarten beginning on Monday as well.
For grade 3-4 students, X cohort students will attend in-person on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week, while Y cohort students will attend remotely based on the NCPS district cohort schedule. All grade 3-4 students will begin full in-person learning on Thursday, September 24th.
Please note that Wednesday, September 23rd will continue to be an early release day for all students at 12:05PM.
Important Dismissal Procedures - Please Read!
As we prepare to transition to have all of our students fully in-person, we appreciate your patience and flexibility during our arrival and dismissal times. We encourage families to consider the bus as a transportation option. Students wait for buses in their classrooms and all students must wear masks on the bus. Our dismissal for buses has been prompt.
We ask for your assistance with the following aspects of dismissal related to pick-ups:
Early pick-ups are permitted ONLY for emergencies. All pick-ups must be entered in the School Dismissal Manager and pickups occur via the carline in our parking lot only. Thank you for understanding that our staff members are busy ensuring that students are packed up, confirming dismissal plans, and preparing dismissal locations at the end of the day so our office staff cannot take changes over the phone.
Please ensure that your family name card is posted and clearly visible on the passenger front side of your car.
For our younger students, please practice buckling the seat belts / car seat with your child at home to support your child in a prompt buckle in the pick up line. If you do need to assist your child in buckling, please move forward with the other cars and pull over to the right side curb cut-out to assist your child so other cars in the line can proceed.
Virtual K-2 Open House @ East!
It was wonderful to share a look at the year of learning ahead with our third and fourth grade families at this past week’s Open House and we look forward to sharing with our K-2 families at their virtual Open House this coming Tuesday evening, September 22nd. Details for that evening are provided below. (Zoom links will be provided by your child’s teacher for the classroom presentations.) The presentation at 6:30PM will be hosted by our administration and will include an overview of our specials program (art, music, PE, library media, ICT, science, Spanish). We hope you will begin the evening there and then proceed to the virtual classroom presentations.
