We are excited to welcome you back to school at East! East School is a wonderful school community, one that is committed to building intellectual curiosity and character in all children. This year, we have many new students and new families joining us at East and lots of new learning ahead! As we have shared in the webinars and communication over the past several weeks, we will take time during the first weeks of school to build new routines to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff and also build community and connections for our students; we know how critical social-emotional security is as a foundation for learning.
With the new routines and protocols in place, I will be launching a weekly What’s Happening @ East? eblast communication to remind families of our schedules, share special events, and highlight the learning in our classrooms through photos, videos, and more. This will be communication that is similar to the daily Morning Announcements that I shared during E-Learning in the spring, but on a weekly basis and in a variety of formats (stay tuned!). Your feedback as we move forward is welcome to ensure these communications are timely, informative, and useful.
This afternoon, you should receive your child’s teacher placement via email. Please know that these placements were made with careful attention to your child’s needs as well as balancing across classes. Class placements are not able to be changed at this time.
Your child’s teacher will be in touch with you this week to provide a Zoom link to a virtual Meet and Greet to be held for the class this Friday, August 28th. The schedule is below:
10:30-10:45 Grade 4
10:45-11:00 Grade 3
Noon-12:15 Grade 2
12:15-12:30 Grade 1
A separate e-blast will be shared with Kindergarten families to provide details regarding the Kindergarten Car Parade being held on Friday, August 28th, 2:00 PM.
On behalf of the East staff, thank you for your partnership as we navigate the new year ahead with flexibility, perseverance, and a growth mindset. I am so very proud of the wonderful community we have here at East!
