In November, fifteen NCHS music students were chosen from thousands who auditioned for the CMEA Western Region ensembles. They then competed in February with the accepted students from the Northern, Southern and Eastern regions for a spot in the All-State Ensembles.
An elite six NCHS students were chosen to represent Connecticut in its All-State Musical Ensembles, which consists of a symphonic band, 2 choirs, orchestra, and jazz band.
The winning students and the ensembles they were chosen to perform with are: Kaleigh McCarthy, soprano (senior) - All-State Treble Choir; Daniel Assis, tenor (senior) - All-State Mixed Choir; Alessio Pantaleo, bass (junior) - All-State Mixed Choir; Helen Culpepper, harp (junior) - All-State Orchestra; Noah Dorfsman, cello (sophomore) - All-State Orchestra; and Bart Codd, violin (junior) - All-State Orchestra.
In April, the students rehearsed and performed at the 73rd In Service Conference and All State Festival presented by the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
CMEA provides programs and activities for music educators, students and future music educators to enhance the quality of music education for all children. Capping off the professional development and networking three-day conference were the 2019 All State Festival Concerts.
