Michelle Santelli Named Director of Food Services

Dr. Bryan Luizzi, New Canaan Public Schools Superintendent, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Santelli as the new Director of Food Services for New Canaan Public Schools. In this position, she will be responsible for creating and maintaining an exceptional food services program for approximately 4400 students and 700 staff.

Michelle Santelli Michelle Santelli is an experienced professional in the food service industry. Since 2008, she has been employed by Compass Group Restaurant Associates, where she was regularly promoted throughout her career, leading to her most recent position as Catering Director at MetLife in midtown Manhattan. While there, she successfully operated and managed a $2.5 million catering department and was responsible for executive dining, conference dining, the MetLife Conference Center, thirteen pantries, special events, and catering menu development. She was accountable for forecasting and budgeting as well as adhering to all safety and Department of Health regulations and procedures. She managed catering and pantry staff and kitchen associates, negotiated with outside vendors, and submitted financial reports regularly.

“We are very proud of our Food Service program, and we’re thrilled to welcome Michelle on board,” said Dr. Luizzi. “Her knowledge and experience will ensure we continue to deliver a high quality program with a focus on providing a positive experience for all students.”

Mrs. Santelli has also worked with other Compass Group Restaurant Associates clients that include Royal Bank of Scotland and Swiss Re. She was named Restaurant Associates Catering Champion and taught and developed training courses at the Catering to the Max Summit. She is ServSafe Certified and earned her BA in Psychology from Manhattanville College.

Dr. Luizzi also thanks the administrative staff, Gary Kass, Director of Human Resources, and Gary’s entire staff for their efforts coordinating and organizing the search process.
