Daniel Clarke Named Manager of Facilities
“We congratulate Bob Willoughby on his retirement, and thank him for his six years of exemplary service with the New Canaan Public Schools. While we’re sad to see Bob retire, we also feel extremely fortunate to have identified and hired Daniel Clarke as our new Manager of Facilities. Throughout the hiring process run by Director of Human Resources Gary Kass, Mr. Clarke distinguished himself to the committees in a variety of ways. Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, and we’re confident he has the skills required to continue the excellent stewardship of the district’s facilities that the Town has come to expect through the years.”
For over a decade, Daniel Clarke served as Director of School Facilities for Weston Public Schools, where he was responsible for the overall maintenance, security, and complete day-to-day operations for the district’s Facilities Management Department. In that position he managed numerous capital renovation projects, developed preventive maintenance and green cleaning programs, and was resposible for numerous environmental compliance projects. He chaired the Weston School System Safety Committee and was a member of the Town of Weston Emergency Committee.
Prior to serving in Weston, Mr. Clarke served as the Director of Facilities Management for Greenwich Hospital, and, prior to that, Director of Facilities Management for Danbury Hospital. In these roles, he managed multi-million dollar capital infrastructure improvement projects, completed numerous physical plant replacement projects, and many miscellaneous building upgrades.
“I am excited to be joining the New Canaan Public School’s winning team,” said Mr. Clarke. “I am confident my experience and expertise will contribute to the strong foundation that has been established throughout the entire New Canaan school district.”
Mr. Clarke has an A.S. Degree in Management from Post University. He has received numerous awards and recognitions including the CIRMA Exceptional Property Management Award; Power of Change Award for Energy Conservation (Top School in CT); and Energy Education Pacesetter Award. While with Weston Public Schools, the district earned an Energy Star Leadership Award, the only CT school system ever recognized. Mr. Clarke also has an E-1 CT Electrical Contractors license and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
