Members of NCHS' VEX Robotics Team make winning presentation to BOE
New Canaan High School’s VEX Robotics Team travels to Southern New England regional competition
The New Canaan High School Vex Robotics Team will be participating in the Southern New England Vex Robotics Regional Competition next month following their qualification in the competition and the approval of the field trip by the Board of Education.
The BOE voted to approve the field trip at the January 22, 2019, board meeting that was preceded by an informal presentation including a hands-on demonstration of some of the robots (photo on left) by NCHS Team members Ben Levin and Mark Levin. Joining the students was Jim Zambarano, Department Chair of the Career and Technical Education Department and NCHS Technology Ed Teacher.

The NCHS Vex Robotics Team will be travelling to Worcester, Massachusetts, on March 2 and 3, to participate in the Southern New England regional competition. If it does well enough at this event, the team will qualify for the World Vex Robotics Competition in April in Louisville, Kentucky.
“These events offer direct ties to our Project Lead the Way, Robotics and STEM curriculum,” said NCHS Technology Ed Teacher Jim Zambarano, “all of which teach 21st century skills that involve engineering and problem solving. In addition, these out of state competitions offer unique opportunities for our students. For some, this club has been their strongest connection to NCHS and fulfills an opportunity to compete on a bigger stage, hopefully reaching to the international competition.”
