• Joanne Rocco, Principal South School is organized on a kindergarten through fourth grade configuration, with  approximately 560 students. Many dedicated teaching assistants, teaching interns, student teachers, and support staffs enrich our school's programs. South's mission is to provide its learners a first-class education with vast opportunities for learning and civic involvement focusing on individual's style of learning and social development by building the experience, skill and knowledge bases required to live in a global community. At South School, we provide many opportunities for students to develop leadership, citizenship and good character. Our Student Council is comprised of third and fourth grade homeroom representatives who are involved in a variety of school spirit and service projects. Our students and staff are involved in many service projects each year and we operate under the belief that all staff members and their students should increase knowledge of the world around them by becoming involved in projects that would meet the civic and social needs of our local communities. At South School, our goal is to provide ample opportunities for children to show that they belong to a caring community. The entire South School community accepts the responsibility for building the academic, intellectual and social-emotional success of each child through constant, consistent and caring involvement. South School is a learner-centered educational organization characterized by, and widely recognized for, its capacity to provide its students with a belief that everyone has something to learn - and to teach. This is the kind of school we want to be. We are proud that this is the kind of school we are.
