Welcome to my website and to Fifth Grade!

My name is Ms. Deborah Line, this will be my 26th year teaching in New Canaan!

I began at West School, teaching both kindergarten and art. I then moved to Saxe where I taught fifth grade for nine years... that was back when fifth grade teachers taught LA, math and social studies :) Following that, I moved on to sixth grade where I taught only social studies.  After teaching sixth grade for nine years as well, I decided it was time to move back to fifth grade. I have been here for the past four years, and it feels great! The thing I think I most enjoy about it is the opportunity to help 5th graders first transition into Saxe from the elementary schools, and then get them ready for the "Middle School Experience" as they move on to 6th grade.

I hope you have had a wonderful summer, and I look forward to meeting you on Monday, August 26, during the Meet and Greet. Please do not worry if you can not make it though, we will have plenty of time to get to know one another after the first day of school on Thursday, August 29!

So as not to confuse you, Mrs. Devine and I have written one welcome letter and supply list; which you will find when you visit her website.

If, at any time, you have a question and need to send me an email, please do so at: deborah.line@ncps-k12.org

    Kind regards,

    Ms. Line

Below is a photo I think you might enjoy. It is a picture of a young man with whom I worked during the summer of 2014 when I visited his small village in Africa. He is making his thinking visible, using ratio and proportion to show perspective in math.
