When most people think of sharks, the first thing that comes into their minds is the movie "Jaws".  Then a tremor of fear comes over them and an immense dislike of swimming in the ocean.  How can a 40 year old movie still insight these strong emtions?

The answer is simple.  Fear of the unknown.  Until recently, there was not a lot of data or information about sharks besides what you could find in an out dated library book.  But in the last 10 years, shark research has grown in leaps and bounds.

Now available to the public are Apps that can track sharks in real time.  Through an Ocearch App you can follow different types of sharks, track their movements and view pictures and information about each shark at the time it was tagged.

Another informative app is run through the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy in Chatham, MA.  This important app gives real time sighting information and alerts so that beach goers will know when Great Whites are in the area.

The more you can learn about sharks, the less you will fear them.  So feel free to check out the apps and next, we can talk more about how science is helping us learn more about sharks then ever before!
