• NCHS Science Department - Mr. Kenneth Riley

  • Hello and welcome! My name is Kenneth Riley and I will be teaching both Earth Science to 9th grade students and an  Environmental Science elective to both juniors and seniors. I look forward to working with your child and helping them peak their interest and curiosity of science.

In addition to being a teacher, I am a father of two young children that are very active playing sports and learning about all facets of the sciences.  I love to get out and stay active with my family, especially on the weekends when time is so precious.  The Earth Science courses that I will be teaching will  give students an understanding of our planet and how the systems are all connected. The topics of study cover: Astronomy, Meteorology, Oceanography and Geology. Students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with others in understanding the phenomena that each topic brings. Students will also have lab time, where experiments are conducted and students will share data and conclusions.

In the Environmental Science class, students will have the opportunity to go out and do field studies. I plan on structuring the class to be more hands-on and engaging.  This class will report on their findings and comapre what we learn about the environment to other scientific studies in the field. This process will encompass utilizing the textbook in order to compare and examine their findings.

I am available mostly by appointment, please email. Also, I will be at school everyday for quick questions and answers that students may have. Let's have a great year!
