NCHS Special Education - Mrs. Jacqueline Hauge
This class is designed to support the reading needs of each student. Assessment and IEP goals drive instruction. The class incorporates the study of learning how to break down words into syllables, vocabulary, reading fluency and reading comprehension.
Students will learn how to support comprehension by annotating text, making connections, summarizing, identifying the main idea of a passage and making inferences.
The materials used for this class are a mix of short grade-level passages, longer grade-level selections, Newsela (online news articles) and the NY Times Upfront Magazine
