Mathematics Department Courses - Level 1


    Grade: 10

    Duration: 2 Semesters

    Prerequisite: Algebra I and teacher recommendation only

    Credit: 0.5 per semester

    This course will provide additional exposure to, and reinforcement of, essential algebraic concepts.  Units of study include:  linear equations and inequalities, systems of linear equations and inequalities, functions (notation, domain and range, linear, quadratic, and exponential), solving quadratics, units and percentages, lines, angles, triangles and circles, area, surface area, volume, congruency and similarity,  parallel line properties, right triangle trigonometry, transformations, and probability.

    Students who successfully complete this class will be adequately prepared for Algebra II.

    Duration: 2 Semesters

    Prerequisite: Geometry, Integrated Geometry and/or teacher recommendation

    Credit: 0.5 per semester

    Units of study include:  functions and inverse functions, quadratic functions, polynomial functions, radical expressions and functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, inferential statistics, and sequences and series. The focus of the course will be on solidifying foundational skills of algebra and using graphs, tables, and equations to extend and apply those skills.
