The emphasis of the course is on a conceptual understanding of the topics covered. Problem-solving and lab exercises are used to demonstrate, reinforce, and clarify concepts. The following topics are investigated in this course: mechanics (velocity, acceleration, forces, motion, gravity, work, power, simple machines, momentum), interrelationships between energy and matter, heat, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, optics, wave motion, and nuclear physics.
A working knowledge of Geometry and Algebra 1 is important for success in this course. Daily homework problem worksheets and lab reports based on presented concepts will be assigned.
