Welcome to your Global Studies II class! This year we will begin with the Age of Absolutism and end with present day events. We will be paying specific attention to the Political, Economic, Religious, Social, Intellectual, and Aesthetic (PERSIA) aspects of different nations, empires, movements, wars and events throughout time and space. The lessons included within this course will touch upon the key aspects of historical understanding, such as- evoking empathy, making past-present connections, making use of primary and secondary source materials, including multiple perspectives, and analyzing the relationship between cause and effect. The goal of this course is not only for students to gain an understanding of important historical content, but to further develop a wide array of critical life skills. These skills include, but are not limited to, critical thinking and analysis, how to express yourself both orally and through writing, team-collaboration, how to conduct research, and how to use evidence to support your ideas.
