    The roots and development of civilization are studied from human origins to the Columbian Exchange. The realities of history are emphasized through a conceptual examination of such institutions as government, economic systems, religion and the arts. Both eastern and western cultures provide a vehicle for  teaching appropriate historical and social  science concepts.

    Through this course, students continue  to develop note taking ability, research and organization skills, document analysis and increased proficiency in writing.
