NCHS Math Department: Mr. William Doyle
Grade: 9 - 12
Duration: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: Algebra I and teacher recommendation
Credit: 0.5 per semester
This course offers an introduction to plane and solid geometry through investigation and hands-on activities. Students will develop logical reasoning through proofs in two-column form. Units of study include: reasoning and proof, lines and angles, triangles and congruence, properties of triangles and quadrilaterals, similarity and trigonometry, transformations and symmetry, circles, and surface area and volume. Students will reinforce algebra skills through geometric problem-solving, and they will investigate properties of plane figures using computer software and other geometric tools.
This course may be taken in conjunction with Math Center Geometry.
