Welcome to Mrs. Vavricka's site
Queridos Estudiantes y Familias,
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! My name is Profesora Vavricka and I will be your Spanish teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. I am looking forward to a GREAT year! Below are some policies and procedures that will help ensure that our school year runs successfully.
1 ½ -2 inch THREE RING binder (please no notebooks-we receive lots of handouts)
Loose leaf paper
Pencils or erasable pen
Spanish/English dictionary (optional OR to be kept at home)
Index cards to make flashcards on occasion (stored in locker and some at home too)
One ziplock bag to store flashcards in your binder.
5 Sheet protectors for practice quizzes with dry erase marker (please bring at least one to class)
1 Red Correcting Pen (optional)
For classroom donation: 2 dry erase markers and one box of tissues.
Be prepared. You are expected to arrive to class each day on time. Bring your binder, planner, writing utensil and completed homework to class each day. You will not be allowed to go to your locker.
Be polite. Raise your hand to participate – no calling out! Ask permission to leave the classroom. No gum or hats are allowed in our classroom.
Be on task.Stay on task with the class activities and pace in addition to being on topic with your comments. Ask yourself if your comment/question is on topic before sharing.
Be respectful: Please respect my right to teach and your classmates’ right to learn in a fun, safe, comfortable environment. Treat others as you would like to be treated by them, and be aware of your actions and how they affect others.
Be present the entire class. Do not pack up your materials until you are dismissed. When you leave, check your area for papers, garbage and make sure you return any classroom materials.
Be positive and participate! Speak the target language and be willing to make mistakes. Take risks! Expect to use Spanish 90-95% of the time. If you do not know how to say something, be creative (actions, drawings etc) to get your point across. Remember you can always use the “¿Cómo se dice …..?” phrase. Please do not give up and remember that I am always here to help.Have fun and know my classroom door is always open for you to come ask questions or voice your opinion and ideas respectfully.
Homework assignments are posted on GOOGLE CLASSROOM. Homework may be a written assignment, project or to study vocabulary and notes.
Homework will receive full credit only if it is complete and handed in on time. Half credit will be rewarded for homework handed in a day late.If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to come to me and ask for missed work. I am happy to help. Please make every effort possible to obtain missed notes from a classmate and handouts from me.
Grades will be a compilation of homework, tests, quizzes, projects and classwork.
V. Academic Integrity
Please have academic integrity. What this means is you are only to hand in and present your own work. Copying homework from a classmate is unacceptable. If you do not understand the homework assignment, please let me know so that I can explain the assignment. Please do not use an online translator. The only approved online dictionary for Spanish homework/class is www.wordreference.com
